Biography

CK is a clinical researcher with a strong background in early-phase trials and bioethics, currently working at Institute for Clinical Research as Technical Head. He has played an instrumental role in strengthening Malaysia’s clinical trial ecosystem, particularly in First-in-Human (FIH) research, and has contributed to the development of national guidelines and regulatory frameworks to enhance trial quality, safety, and ethical compliance.

As a pioneer member of the team that established the Phase 1 Clinical Trial Unit under the Institute for Clinical Research (ICR), Malaysia, CK has been involved in the successful conduct of numerous pharmacological studies. These include investigations into drug bioavailability, drug-drug and food-drug interactions, formulation effects, bioequivalence, and multiple phase 2/3 vaccine trials.

A strong advocate for ethical research practices, CK is actively engaged in VolREthics (Healthy Research Volunteers and Ethics), an initiative dedicated to promoting responsible conduct in healthy volunteer clinical trials and ensuring the protection of participants’ rights, safety, and well-being.
