Biography

Adrian Wildfire, CEO and founder is a Master, Fellow and accredited specialist in the fields of Virology, Medical Microbiology and Parasitology. He is a subject matter expert in the controlled human infection modelling (CHIM) primarily for diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract. Adrian started his career in 1987 as a Clinical Scientist, working with antimicrobial resistant isolates of tuberculosis under the tutelage of Professor Denis Mitchison within the Wolfson Research Institute (Royal Postgraduate Medical School), Hammersmith Hospital, London before going on to take a microbiology Fellowship at St. Mary’s Hospital. Becoming a Senior Medical Microbiologist, he worked overseeing diverse diagnostic services and research projects. A Parasitology Masters from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine followed before joining Professor Brian Gazzard’s HIV Research team at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital – working primarily with HIV, Hepatitis and Sexual Health cohorts and acting as a subject matter expert (e.g. the Academic Health Science Centre, SAGE and the NHS Diagnostic Pathology Group) and obtaining a DMS as well as Project Management (PRINCE2) and Leadership (Harvard Leadership Program) qualifications. Adrian was employed in designing challenge studies as Director of Research Services at Retroscreen (hVIVO) before joining a multidisciplinary team within SGS Life Sciences manufacturing cGMP compliant, live, wild-type challenge agents (RSV and influenza H3N2) for use in clinical trials, designing and performing diverse CHIM and CHMIs (malarial DVI studies) and leading on infectious disease strategy and training. He was scientific lead for the feasibility team for global Phase 2 and 3 studies in a variety of clinical conditions. Adrian was co-founder of CHIMagents, a company dedicating to intelligent design and manufacture of viral challenge agents and Director, Scientific and Business Strategy within hVIVO and is an NED on the Board of PrEP Biosciences. Since 2023 he is founder and CEO of Chimunomics a company dedicated to manufacturing challenge agents and providing consultancy services for pre-clinical services and phase 1 to 3 clinical trial design and analyses. He has authored papers and articles relating to HIV, Ethics, Immunology and Human Challenge amongst others.
