Biography

I have a specific interest in human challenge models within hVIVO (formally Retroscreen Ltd.) and over the last 20 years have led, managed, designed, performed, and analysed numerous viral challenge studies (with and without drugs or vaccines) using RSV, Influenza strains, and HRV in both healthy subjects, as well as with HRV in airway disease, such as asthma. Studies have included vaccines, monoclonals, immunomodulators, and antivirals, as well as pure research studies to better understand viral disease in humans.

I have designed flu and RSV healthy challenge studies for the assessment of efficacy of IMPs, as well as including precision sampling for biomarker research using various platforms including omics technologies, to develop predictive algorithms as well as to help elucidate why some subjects become infected or not (correlates of protection) or become more severe or asymptomatic (correlates of disease).

I have developed collaborations with academia in the past, including with Professor Dave Singh (University of Manchester) and Professor Trevor Hansel (Imperial College London), and am keen to identify areas where hVIVO as an SME can identify win-win collaborations with academia in the future.
