Biography
Dr Gunaraj Dhungana, is a Microbiologist and Molecular Biologist. He graduated in Laboratory Medicine and pursued his post-graduated in medical microbiology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He received his Ph.D. in molecular biology jointly from Tribhuvan University Nepal and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, National Institute of Health (NIH), USA under the Graduate Partnership Program. He has more than 15 years of bench experience in clinical laboratories, microbiology, and molecular techniques in hospitals, diagnostic centres, and research institutions. He is currently working as a research consultant at the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC), the government of Nepal. As a microbiologist, his research focuses on the development of alternative anti-microbial strategies to treat infections caused by drug-resistant bacteria. He has demonstrated an excellent track record of achievement in the area of phage (bacterial virus) therapy. Through the HIC-VAC membership network, he aims to contribute to the development of novel vaccines by translating research results.
