Dr Achut Barakoti

Biography

Achut started his medical career on 2003 from Xinxiang Medical University, China as a MBBS student. After completing his graduation (2009) he started working as a medical officer in emergency, ICU and hospitals at rural region at different time periods. He had completed his MD degree in Clinical Microbiology on 2014 from Kathmandu University, Nepal. Ever since then, he has been working as a lecturer in Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital. Currently, he is upgrading his knowledge in the field of vaccinology and implementing it to guide his students, junior faculties as well as serve his country. He has recently completed his Diploma in Vaccinology (February 2018) Institut Pasteur, Paris.

His key responsibilities as a faculty in the department of microbiology is to teach MBBS,BDS students and also to facilitate the MD Microbiology post graduate students. He also holds the position of Microbiology laboratory In-charge in the central diagnostic laboratory of Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital as well as a member of infection control team of the same hospital.

His main area of research interests are bacteriology especially gram negative bacteria, antimicrobial resistance and vaccinology
