Biography
Anu is a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the University of Bristol. He is interested in improving outcomes for children with severe infections by a better understanding of immunity at mucosal surfaces. During his PhD, Anu demonstrated that infants may be more susceptible to developing severe tuberculosis because their alveolar macrophages exhibit diminished functional responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, compared with adults. His current research focus is exploring the local tissue response to group A streptococcus in the upper respiratory tract.
