Biography

Chrispin is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Genomics of Pneumonia and Meningitis (and Neonatal Sepsis) research group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Darwin College, University of Cambridge. He did his MSc and PhD at the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool respectively. Previously he worked at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme (MLW) in Malawi.

His research focuses on analysis of large high throughput genomic datasets from whole genome and deep sequencing studies of clinically significant bacterial pathogens (primarily Streptococcus pneumoniae) to understand pathogen evolution within hosts and at population level, characterisation of pathogen populations, genetic basis of phenotypes, geographical spread and transmission, antimicrobial resistance and epidemiology.
