Biography
Dr Christopher Smith graduated MBChB (Hons) from the University of Aberdeen with a research-based BSc Medical Sciences and has since trained in general medicine in Manchester and Liverpool. After completion of his Diploma in Tropical Medicine at LSTM in 2016, he undertook a period of research at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programme focussing on the health economics of Typhoid fever in Blantyre District. He has now returned to Liverpool as a Specialty Trainee in infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine.
He has recently been appointed as a Clinical PhD Research Fellow for the forthcoming CHANTS non-typhoidal human challenge study, working with Dr Malick Gibani and Prof Graham Cooke at Imperial College London. His PhD will investigate the clinical responses and host-pathogen interactions following challenege with two distinct strains of Salmonella Typhimurium.
