Biography
Matt Laurens is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Tropical Pediatrics and is based at the Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also directs the Peds ID fellowship program. He conducts pediatric and adult vaccine trials at international field sites in Mali and Burkina Faso, West Africa, and directs clinical trials in Malawi, Central Africa. He also leads malaria clinical trials with human challenge in Baltimore, Maryland. His interests include malaria vaccine development, novel antimalarial treatments, conjugate typhoid vaccine studies, and development of vaccines targeting new and emerging infectious diseases in resource-limited settings.
