I am an academic clinician specialising in paediatric infectious diseases. My research centres on interventions to prevent infections in pregnancy and early life. I lead clinical trials of vaccines in pregnancy, infancy, childhood and adolescence, both of licensed and experimental vaccines such as those aiming to protect against group B strep, respiratory syncytial virus and cytomegalovirus. Controlled Human Infection Models (CHIM) are well placed to test such approaches and we are working to develop these models. I am the primary supervisor of a CHIM of Neisseria Lactamica in pregnancy, which is currently ongoing. I am the co-director of the UKRI funded sister network IMPRINT.
