Ryan graduated from Coventry University in July 2020 with a BSc in Biomedical Science. Following graduation, he started working as a Biomedical Support Worker at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Southampton Clinical Research Facility (CRF) Lab in University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Biological samples from commercial, NHS, and clinical trials organisations were processed following current study protocols and procedures meeting MHRA and GCP requirements.
In October 2022, Ryan started as a PhD Student in the Controlled Human Infection Group, supervised by Dr Jay Laver, Dr Adam Dale, and Professor Robert Read at the University of Southampton. His current PhD work focuses on defining the frequency and effector phenotype of CD4+ memory T cells following controlled human infection with Neisseria lactamica.
