Biography
Emma studied biochemistry at Imperial College London, then completed a Masters and PhD in immunology. Following a three year postdoc position at The Institute of Cancer Research working on multiple myeloma, she left academia and joined Breast Cancer Now to start a career in science communications. She moved to Cancer Research UK in 2012 and stayed for 5 years, becoming an expert spokesperson for the organisation and supporting media work. She is now appointed as the Communications Lead for the HIC-Vac Network, and is supporting Network management activities. She is particularly interested in engagement and outreach work, and how to engage the general public with volunteer infection studies.
