Biography
Kristy Azzopardi is a Scientist working in infectious diseases at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, since 2014. In her early career she explored the pathogenic mechanisms underlying diarrheagenic E. coli infections with Professor Roy Robins-Browne. In 2016, Kristy joined Professor Andrew Steer’s group, working with Dr Joshua Osowicki on the Strep A human challenge study, CHIVAS-M75. Kristy developed the processes for bacterial dose manufacture according to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, and the regulatory framework to ensure a high level of quality assurance. This robust model will soon play a pivotal role in assessing new vaccines for Strep A.
