Biography

Esosa Osage is a master of science degree holder in Hematology and blood transfusion science (from the University Of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria) with a specialty in Immunology in his PhD currently on-going in the same university. He is currently a project manager with the Institute Of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), coordinating the acute febrile illness sentinel surveillance project in Edo state, Nigeria which is a US CDC funded project. He  currently coordinates the implementation and execution of several NIH-funded researches for the institute in Benin City. The most outstanding of these researches are the Acute Vertical Transmission of HIV among Pregnant women (AVERT Study 2010-2014), Microbiomes  affects the risk of growth and development of HIV exposed but uninfected children living in Nigeria (MARGIN Study 2015-2019), Oral microbiomes and Dental Caries in Human immunodeficiency virus infected population in Nigeria (DOMHaIN Study 2019-2021) which he is  currently coordinating in addition to the HPV, HIV,microbiome interplay in Nigeria young youth which is a 5 years study in university of Benin teaching hospital.  He has acquired skills and proficient in the following areas: DNA extraction, PBMC isolation and cryopreservation, international shipment and project management.

Following his interest in immunological response to diseases as well as vaccine efficacy, he connected with IABS and has been part of the CONTROLLED HUMAN INFECTIONS MODEL MEETING on two occasions in UK and Kenya respectively. He is currently coordinating Nigeria researchers interested in CHIM study for possible start up in country. He has conducted a series of researches such as the immunological pattern of Hepatitis B infection among exposed and unexposed babies in PMTCT program in low resource setting, as well as other researches on HIV Co-infection with other viral diseases such as herpes Simplex Virus, Cytomegalovirus Human papilloma viruses  among pregnant women in Nigeria. His interest and research effort have earned him same consulting opportunities like consultancy on the evaluation of the efficacy of Typhoid vaccine in Nigeria population for Roche Pharmaceuticals and limited Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, he excited to be part of Nigeria's first CHIM study soon.
